TRANSCUTANEOUS ELECTRICAL NERVE STIMULATION-
TENS

Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) is blocking the transmission of pain impulses to the brain, which stimulates the body to produce the hormone of happiness - endorphin. This method of electroanalgesia aims to relieve a person's pain through an electric current. "Transcutaneous" means "through the skin" because this is how the procedure is performed with electrodes that touch the skin and send so-called TENS pulses with a duration of 10 to 1000 microseconds and an amplitude of 80 to 100 TENS pulses per second. TENS machines are used to relieve pain related to nerves, muscles or joints, which is often chronic and can take many forms, including inflammatory arthritis, back pain, leg pain, labor contractions or post-operative pain . Migraine pain can be relieved by specialized TENS machines.
The application of TENS turns out to be quite successful in most people who for one reason or another experience joint and muscle pain. TENS is one of the most successful physiotherapeutic methods for dulling pain.
